HOW IT WORKS
Pricing in. Purchase order out.
Five steps between a price sheet and a material order. Everything in Tekdek is one of them.
01 · PRICING IN
Live from your branch, or a sheet you upload.
Connect your ABC account and pricing comes from your branch, current. No connection yet, or a distributor without an API? Upload the PDF and Tekdek reads it.
Both feed the same catalog. Every row lands with its order code, its coverage, and the document it came from. Anything Tekdek cannot classify stays in review instead of getting guessed at.
Upload a newer sheet and existing order codes update rather than duplicate.
02 · LINES MATCHED
Sizes that are not on the sheet still get a price.
Price sheets do not list every size. For windows, Tekdek adds width and height into a united inch and finds the closest item sharing your manufacturer, series, style, color, and glass.
Land on a listed size and the price is exact. Land between sizes and the price derives, carrying a score that shows how far the derivation traveled and what changed along the way.
Manufacturer, series, style, color, and glass are hard gates. Tempered, obscure, grilles, and low-E are soft. Each one reduces confidence rather than blocking the quote.
03 · SPECS TRANSLATED
What you sold becomes what the crew installs.
A sales spec is what the homeowner agreed to. A production spec is what gets ordered and installed. Translating between them is where jobs go wrong.
Exposure drives course count. Course count drives boards. Batten spacing drives batten count. Overhang depth and panel width drive soffit. Fascia stacks in layers and each layer becomes its own line. Openings come off the net wall as you tap them.
Windows get a second measure after the sale, because the manufacturer cuts to that number. Measure the opening, take the smallest measurement on each axis, reduce for the install method. The reduction is yours to set.
04 · PURCHASE ORDER OUT
The same object the homeowner signed.
The working takeoff, the customer proposal, and the distributor purchase order are three views of one thing. Change the takeoff and all three move.
That is what keeps the number the homeowner signs and the number on the material order from drifting apart. Materials aggregate by SKU. Every line carries a real order code. Regenerate in place when the scope changes.
Live order submission to ABC is in progress. Purchase orders generate today.
05 · RECONCILED
What you actually paid, against what you quoted.
Upload the vendor invoice when it comes back. Tekdek derives actual material cost and puts it beside the projected number for that job.
Revenue, cost of goods, gross profit, and margin sit on the job, not in a spreadsheet somebody updates on Sunday. Costs come from the quotes linked to the proposals you selected, so revenue and cost cannot diverge.
When a cost is unknown, Tekdek says unknown. It does not show you a hundred percent margin because a number is missing.
THE RULE UNDERNEATH
A contractor should never be able to quote a number he cannot order.
Most contractor software stops at the quote. What comes after is a separate system, or a spreadsheet, or a phone call to the counter.
Tekdek treats the quote and the order as the same object from the start. That is the reason the assemblies ship preloaded, the reason quantities derive instead of getting typed, and the reason every line shows where it came from.
